This 2 part filter is made up of an outer and inner core.

Your MicroClean Ultra II Filter is a major component on select Sundance water filtration systems. A standard reemay, or pleated filter, is used for the Outer Core as a first layer of filtration. This will trap undesirable materials from your water on the outside. While these do a good job of keeping your water clean, they also may miss some of the tiny dead skin particles,  oils, and dead bacteria that may otherwise go straight through the reemay. That's why we have the MicroClean Ultra II Inner Core in order to absorb these undesirable particles, up to ten times finer than what normal filters catch,  so that you don't have ultra fine particles in your water. This means cleaner, clearer water. It also means you are bathing in the cleanest water possible.

MicroClean Ultra II's Inner Core filter MUST be replaced every 3 months. These filters cannot be sprayed out and reused as they absorb particles like a sponge. 

Attempting to clean these filters will result in your MicroClean Ultra II Inner Core Filter deteriorating into your water. Trying to keep these filters longer than intended could also cause damage to your circulation system.

The Outer Core should be removed and rinsed out regularly and replaced yearly.
